these weekend i held two workshops and they were both quite fun. i totally forgot to take any pictures from saturday's jewelry class, so these pics are all from today's bottle class. one of the other participants got sick, so she wasn't able to make it today. but we will see her in another class. we had fun playing with our bottles and discussing the different types of bottles and ways to make toppers for them, how to alter them, etc. i think we each got 2 bottles finished.

in February, i will be holding 2 more workshops, which you can read about here.

also in February i am holding a Valentine's day card exchange between myself and you if you would like to exchange cards. you can read about it here. i have a lot of participants already, which i am excited about!

Classes for February

February is fast approaching so i thought i'd post my class offerings now to give you time to maybe attend!

the first class, "Destash that stash" will be held on Friday, February 12, 2010 from 10:00-2:00. one day when i was sitting around, i decided to spend 20 minutes going through my studio stuff, stuff found in junk drawers, stuff found in jewelry boxes, stuff belonging to my grandma, stuff belonging to my mother and broken stuff! i wondered, "what could i do with all this stuff? it is stuff that has meaning to me, yet it is just hiding away. you would not believe the fun stuff i rounded up in the strangest places (bathroom drawer!) we will be learning jewelry basics like wire wrapping, attaching, component soldering and basic jewelry design on creating a 2 tier charmed necklace and figuring out what to do with all this cool stuff. here are a couple of different designs i created to show what we will be doing. email me at keeshagirl4@aol.com for more information or to reserve your seat.

------------------------------------------------------------------

my second class offering will be a Valentine's themed soldering class to be held on Saturday, February 13th from 11:00-3:00. we will learn all about soldering as we create this vintage inspired ornament. email me at keeshagirl4@aol.com with questions or to reserve your seat.

hope to see you there!

and speaking of Valentine's Day, i'm still looking for people who want to exchange Valentine's Day cards with me! read the post here!

Holiday soldering class today

Today i held a holiday soldering class here at the house. it was a small class due to my Christmas tree taking up several spaces in the room! it was intimate and really fun. their kits were so cute, i put them in these awesome vintage stockings i found at the flea market. the kind we got as kids with that material that oranges use to be bagged in. A fellow etsian, Kelly, came. We've been online for several years now, so it is always fun to finally meet face to face. and she was so sweet to give me the most incredible polymer clay Santa as a gift.
Also Jenny Heid and her sister, Melissa, came! that was very exciting, as Jenny lives very close to me and we've never quite been able to meet up. Jenny and Melissa had the sweetest camaraderie. i took the cutest picture of them working together and helping each other. Jenny brought me a candle with one of her images on it. so sweet - thank you girls! Jenny and i are both teaching at Art Opera in April. Check out the classes if you have a second to see what we will be up to!

in the bottom picture, i took a picture of myself to show where i put a fun streak of blue in my hair. I'd wanted to do it for awhile and bought a bottle of the color at Hot Topic a few months ago, but promptly misplaced it. i found it last night in with my glues! (well, it looks like a glue bottle....) again jenny, again, sorry for the name lapse; typical kecia move!

any chance you watch Dexter? the season finale was on tonight and i have to say that i am in SHOCK over the ending.

holiday soldered ornament

there are 2 spots left in my holiday ornament class on learning how to solder. here is an ornament that i made the other day using items from my Christmas stash. the class ornament will be a little different (no bow tie and a 2x3 square), but we will have fun using vintage fabrics, old Holiday greeting cards, learning how to attach bulbs to the bottom, etc. email me for details if you are interested at keeshagirl4@aol.com. class is sunday dec. 13th from 1:00-4:30/5:00. you need to put down a deposit to reserve your seat.

randomness

here is a manikin i am making to sell at the Country Living Fair. she's as assemblage of sorts and this is her beginning phase. she will have a layer of paper mache, then collage of vintage text, a skirt and more!
---------------------------------------------------------------

funny kid alert - as soon as this little guy saw my camera, he started hamming it up.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

here is what i made in my last soldering class
---------------------------------------------------------------

here's dillon's girlfriend, Adrianne, who attended the class. she made this cool, funky pendant (how cute is she?). unfortunately i forgot to get pictures of Carol and Mary's pieces -sorry!
----------------------------------------------------------

here was a new table at the Collingswood flea market that i like to hit on Friday's. i didn't buy much from her as her prices were a little high for me, but she had really great stuff. very old pieces, unique and rare. she really knew her stuff too and was really interesting to talk to.
