Rosette Swap

Jill of Gypsy Brocante, recently hosted a rosette swap, so today is the day we are suppose to reveal the rosettes we received and the ones we made.

i received this lovely rosette from Wendy Aspinall. i love the colors she used and also the fabric; which she didn't know what it was called. it is sort of silk but isn't. i love the sheen it has. she also made me the cutest little pillow with a photo transfer image on it, but it's still packed from the studio move and wasn't able to find it. thanks so much Wendy!

i made my rosette for JoAnne Balaz, of Vintage Dragonfly. i used all vintage materials and decided to make my rosette in belt form, which looks really pretty worn over jeans or skirts.

Beadfest 2010

I recently attended Beadfest in Philly and took classes with Susan Lenart Kazmar and Linda Larsen. Their company is Objects and Elements, of which i am a design team member. So i thought since they were in my hood, i'd take advantage of that and get in some classes with them. I took the classes with my friend, Leslie, who was kind enough to let me stay with her the whole time so that i didn't have to commute or pay for lodging. (thanks again!)

Susan's class was all about resin application and we used the much touted ICE resin. I just love this product. if you go over to the website, there are all kinds of tutorials and photos on projects done using ICE resin. you can also keep up with the blog to see projects done by all the design team members. for my first project, I embedded a butterfly (found right before class in the parking lot of WaWa!) into one of O&E's bezels. (whoops, i just realized that my bezel pics is upside down, but you get the idea. then we let them dry overnight before continuing on with other projects. i'm still finishing mine up, so i'll post pics later of the completed piece.

at lunch time we went downstairs to do some shopping! we ran into Suze and her husband, Lenny.

then we ran into Jane and her daughter, Claudia

more Art in the rough, 2010

What can I say about Art-in-the-rough? it was magical. it was like being back at girl scout camp, only funner because i got to enjoy it with my son. We were fed well - every meal was well planned and delicious. there was a campfire every morning and every evening. we had hot showers and plenty of room to do our art and in our tents. there was a delicious lobster bake one evening where they cooked the lobster in a traditional Maine way in which they also cook still in its stalk, corn on the cob. yummy! there were snacks in between and desserts at every turn. i taught a jewelry class one day and then took a banner class with taryn the next. we finished off the evening with silly photographs (quite fun to see know!) and then dinner and a movie in the barn (Alice in Wonderland). the planning, details and menu. everyone walked away with a door prize, even dillon. i give an A+. this group worked hard to show us a good time in beautiful Maine and it was perfect.
