Rosette Swap

Jill of Gypsy Brocante, recently hosted a rosette swap, so today is the day we are suppose to reveal the rosettes we received and the ones we made.

i received this lovely rosette from Wendy Aspinall. i love the colors she used and also the fabric; which she didn't know what it was called. it is sort of silk but isn't. i love the sheen it has. she also made me the cutest little pillow with a photo transfer image on it, but it's still packed from the studio move and wasn't able to find it. thanks so much Wendy!

i made my rosette for JoAnne Balaz, of Vintage Dragonfly. i used all vintage materials and decided to make my rosette in belt form, which looks really pretty worn over jeans or skirts.

hitting the road

dillon and i are hitting the road tomorrow! we are heading up to Maine, where i be teaching at Art in the Rough. Saturday i'll will be teaching this and Sunday i will be taking this.

i am really looking forward to it as i will know many of the girls that are attending and looking forward to seeing them and the area. it will be fun to see our friends Taryn and Scott of Navel Jelly Studio, our lovely hosts for the weekend. (be sure and check their stuff - they have the best goodies)!

growing up in the Navy, I've traveled far and wide and have been in almost every state in the U.S. except Maine and Rhode Island.

Our first stop will be in Marblehead, Massachusetts, a coastal community 18 miles outside of Boston. We are staying at a B&B and plan on having a lovely seafood dinner at the waterside somewhere.

images for Sunday

I'm doing Jill's rosette swap, so i have been practicing making some and getting my style and flair down before deciding which one will go off to my swap partner. I always worry that i will end up picking a color that they aren't fond of, so i guess i'll make a few more neutral tone ones as well. if you were my swap partner, which one grabs your attention first?

more images from the garden to enjoy:

do you know what this interesting creature is? it is a hummingbird moth. this is only the 3rd time i've ever seen one. i think they are cool and they do look like tiny hummingbirds at first.
