day two

we are back at the hotel freshing up after another awesome day at the Country Living Fair. big crowds again today, but the buying was different. i think the big buyers were in yesterday. today was a lot of what i call "lookie lous" out for some fresh air and kettle corn! i still had a good day, so i 'm not complaining. a pretty lady stopped by my booth and ended up spending a nice sum on some of my higher end pieces. she bought "Silver Bella", the piece that was in the current issue of Belle Amoire Jewelery. she also bought my best piece, "the lost purse". i'm worried i won't have anything to sell at "Art -is-you" for vendor night when i teach there in a few weeks! (and there won't be any time to make much more after i get home).
got to see my online friend, Vivian, who came with her 2 friends, so that was fun. Vivian was kind enough to booth sit for me a few times so that i could run to the potty and also get some food - thanks!
We are heading out in a few for dinner in a few minutes to celebrate my birthday. tomorrow i've heard mention of the "weather word we shall not name", so please think good weather thoughts for our final day tomorrow! and i promised, plenty of photos to share with you when i get home.

Taking tea with Alice

We were given a kewpie doll to alter for "Taking tea with Alice" (in Wonderland) for the "Art is You" art retreat that will take place in a few weeks in Connecticut. so this is what i came up with. I still want to do something around the base under her skirt (i see a poofy ribbon). I am teaching 4 classes there (snippets, soldering, a jewelry class and a collage class). I am really looking forward to it.

In the meantime, i have finally taken booth photos and shots of most of my jewerly and mixed media pieces - so i'll probably post those tomorrow. tonight i begin pricing everything. (yuck, i hate this part).

my sign is here!

i asked my friend, Claire to make this sign for me after seeing some names she had done for one of the etsy shows at Om Baby. isnt it great? and yes, that's a little sneak peek at a section of my booth. hopefully more pictures tomorrow. i'm about to pull out all my jewelry and start finding spots for them through out the booth.

country living booth, stage one

here's what part of my booth will look like for the Country Living show. there is a drawer that goes in that little gap in the table. it's on the porch waiting to be cleaned. the best part of this booth? it was all free - stuff we took off the curb. i call jeff with a "curbside alert" location and then he goes and gets it for me! (i guess i am Sanford and he is son?) anyway, it's cute, huh? i'll have another little farm table, a bench and a manikin - so it should be visually stimulating to say the least!
------------------------------------------------------------------
i have a funny story to share with you. actually, a dream i had. i've been having trouble with a tooth. i've been to the dentist a few times about it, only to find nothing. last time, he declared the tooth bruised from all the clenching i do on it. so last night i dreamed that i went to see my neighbor, who is a doctor, about it. i guess i was fed up with the dentist not resolving it..... so my doctor, kurt, in this dream, has a new partner, Lola and their exam room is this huge "lounge" with oversized couches, pillows, etc. so the 3 of us are on the couch, all of us laying about on these pillows (and yes, in the dream, i'm thinking this is odd...) so anyway, kurt defers my exam to Lola. Lola starts to examine the tooth, noting this and that. finally, she starts to write out a script, and here is the funny part - she's decided that i need to get physical therapy! how awesome is that? in the dream, i was very skeptical about this and kept saying, "won't they think it is a little absurd to be doing physical therapy on my tooth?" i kept thinking how ridiculous it was! the dream was so stupid and bizarre, but i've been laughing about it all day.
------------------------------------------------------------
i still have one seat left in my soldering class on thurs. as someone had to cancel. if you are interested, drop me an email!

booth for Artnsoul

pictures of my booth for Artnsoul in May. once i get everything priced, i'll pack it all back up. on top of the booth are these great metal baskets (for sale) that i purchased. they are old locker room pool baskets.

this is my favorite lamp and it used to be in my bedroom. i was sorry when it died. since it is vintage, we had a hard time fixing it. but, i still did not want to throw it away. so the other day when i saw it in my basement, i thought, that might look cute at my booth. i'm glad i can still use it in some way.
