SlipperySlopeBloomer

I found this wonderful seller on etsy. her name is Jess and she's the creator of SlipperySlopeBloomer. i chatted with her briefly today about her beautifully colored pictures (done with Sharpies!) that she draws on vintage lingerie (she likes to call them "dainties"). She also makes high waisted bikinis (vintage style) which are very fun and flirty.


I'd wear this corset with a tank underneath and a pair of jeans (if my wallet allowed, that is....)

and i could also see myself wearing this!

What really impressed me about Jess was her attitude about recyling/upcycling using vintage items, found objects or junk. read more:

"There has been a growing trend in the crafting community these past few years to work in a medium made up exclusively of found objects and junk, and I am so very happy about and proud of this trend. It is made up of a small but growing faction of folks who have chosen to pay their bills by producing items to be consumed but have managed to do so with out adding to the pile of mass made-for-consumption THINGS our culture insists in churning out at a progressively disconcerting rate year after year.

So there you have it. She does not have a blog (as of yet, i'm trying to talk her into it!) She's a wonderful writer and story teller, so maybe when she's ready, she'll start one! in the meantime, stop by her shoppe to look a peek at her work.

i asked my friend, Claire to make this sign for me after seeing some names she had done for one of the etsy shows at Om Baby. isnt it great? and yes, that's a little sneak peek at a section of my booth. hopefully more pictures tomorrow. i'm about to pull out all my jewelry and start finding spots for them through out the booth.

local press today

today there was a little article in the local paper (Asbury Park Press) talking about etsy and local etsians (me included). check it out at: APP.com. i have to laugh though, because he quoted me in the article saying something dumb about Marshall's and TJMaxx and i know i had more important things to say besides that!

recycling Christmas and greeting cards

i wanted to mention a place in Nevada, called St. Jude's ranch for Children . St. Jude's Ranch for Children has a 40 year history of healing and caring for abused, abandoned and neglected children. what they do is take used Christmas and greeting cards and turn them into new cards.

Currently they are accepting used, all-occasion greeting cards from November 15, 2008 thru February 28, 2009. You can mail your donations to:

a few of my new years goals have been to get new stuff added into my etsy shoppe ( i have so much stuff to add) - but i just hate the process of doing this on etsy (have i brought this up before?) it is so time consuming and takes a ridiculous amount of steps. (yes, i have definitely mentioned this before....) my other goal is to finish the tutorials and get my website going so that i no longer have to load all this stuff into etsy. with that said, i'm adding a few things in there tonight, such as this box: ( notice the tiny little shells that are sewed into the tulle.)

1000markets.com

Have you heard of 1000markets yet? it is the same concept as etsy; but i have to tell it is so much user friendly than etsy.it also allows you to have a blog and is a social network at the same time (meaning my friends can leave me comments on my home page and communicate with me from inside the network. here is my banner for my new 1000markets shoppe which can be found at http://www.lemoncholys.1000markets.com/. keep in mind they are brand new, but i found the whole presentation more upscale and less busy than etsy. take a peek when you have a minute. my first wholesale order

a woman contacted me a few days on etsy to see if i would do a whole sale order for her of these charms. after some negogiating, i decided to do it. originally though, she wanted 30, but i decided to do 15 to begin with since soldering to me is a big pain in the you -know-what! i like soldering, but it does get on my nerves after awhile. she told me the letters she wanted and then i got to pick the paper and charms to be used. 15 in one sitting was plenty; although i did break it down into an assembly line production to make better use of my time. so these cute little charms are headed off to a store in Missouri.

here's what i worked on today

the first picture is a flower shrine assemblage. it was another project i did using items gleened from my work desk! the second picture is a canvas icon collage (8x10) i added fibers around the edge of the canvas. i liked to think of the two women fresh from their Easter bonnet win, ready to take on the night! both items can be found in my etsy shoppe, http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5072419.

going on etsy

here's a few things i worked on this weekend and will be adding to my etsy shoppe (today or when i get back!) guess i was in a Mona Lisa mood. the darker Mona Lisa has some wonderful crackling in the background that i did by hand (and it measures 8x8). i think the lighter Mona Lisa (w/ buttons for reference) is very "Anahata" (it measures 8x10)- i must be gearing up for her class! how cute it the little sprint time princess birdie sitting on her peat pot nest? i will also be adding some of my handmade bird nests delicately woven with all sorts of fibers and goodies. the base is a secret.........

I'll be at Artnest tomorrow thru the 24th. (i leave at 3am - horrible time huh?)
