another snow storm

this was how some snow drifted onto a tree limb- i noticed it from my kitchen window. i love how it looks like a heart.

(this is a funny picture of pepper who came outside to use the bathroom and then immediately turned around and ran back into the house!)

well, we are right in the middle of another snow storm. i took a bunch of pictures outside during a slight let up and then i ran down to the beach (with Gracie) to take some photos down there. i've always wanted to see the beach during a snow storm and it was really beautiful. so quiet; hardly a soul there besides grace and i.

after leaving the beach, i took a side street that runs along lake como; a pretty area that i often take photos at. so i made a pit stop to grab a photo opp of a tree and bench next to the lake. i left grace in the car and told her i'd be right back. well, grace freaked out and some how managed to lock the car door! inside the car were my purse, cell phone and extra set of keys! yikes! i walked a few houses down and found someone home (the beach is deserted in the winter!) told them what happened, etc. called jeff, called AAA and then the police. the police arrived first with a sour policeman chastising me for "not picking a better day" (yeah, right buddy) and then was complaining how gracie was in the way to him seeing the lock. so i went to the other side of the car in hopes of getting her to go to that window instead and when she flew over, she managed to roll down the window a bit! yahoo. i quickly stuck my hand through the little gap she made (thank god for skinny arms and long fingers) and then managed to reach and unlock the door. pwhew! what an adventure. i have to say the couple who let me in to use the phone, was so nice and i am really grateful that they were so helpful.

anyway, here's the picture i just had to stop for (that caused all the grief!)

  1. lol! that is so something that would happen to me.. if I had a dog! But I have had cats that we used to shovel a path to a big pine tree for them! Sometimes I would have to throw them out cause they didnt want to go out.. At that time we had no litter boxes. It didnt used to bother them to go out until they go old. finally a couple years ago, I put a litter box ont eh front porch for them. great pic of your little dog running back to you!

  2. OK, I know that probably was so Scary but it gave me a little laugh. Gracie is so Darn Cute in the Snow too. My Golden won't go out in the rain, not a Damn Paw will ever touch water, we have to put her in the garage to make her business when it is raining. If we had the snow, she would have to hibernate. Those photos are Great too.. Next time, stay in during a Blizzard ok!! xo Jamie

  4. Lovely photos. That little Gracie is a character. Since we seem to be talking about our animal friends, I am typing with one hand because Simon, my cat is draped across my other arm and can't be disturbed. Loved the Valentine from Mother Nature.

  7. Hi Kecia, thanks for sharing your adventures, great read. Your pictures are beautiful and Gracie is a sweetie. My golden loves to be out in the rain and snow. It is my border collie that hates it. LOL...

  10. yes, i had a good chuckle too - we all needed that - so funny that grace rolled the window down - take that you mean spirited cop! guess you showed him - we artists love to be out in the thick of things like snow storms (or typhoons on guam, for that matter) - can't be helped! love the photos - you are such a good "noticer" - the snow heart is wonderful! good alone times in the quiet of snow! paddington, my golden, LOVES it, Blossom doesn't mind it, but she hates rain - funny, the little built-in spark that ignites when they come in contact with snow - good heart meds for we humans! love, mom
