reclaimed discardia

those of you who know me, know that i am all about upcycling materials and items. I scour flea markets and junk stores looking for inexpensive items with potential to be something new and cool.

recently i purchased a piece of old leather for $6 and have been excited to sit down and figure out what the heck i want to do with it. it's a material i haven't worked with before. Another potential place to purchase old leather (should you be so inclined, would be thrift stores - check out the clothing for old leather pants, skirts and jackets)

so last night watching, "The King's Speech", i created these. not sure what they are "suppose" to be, but really they could be anything. they would look great hanging from a journal, a book mark, a keychain, something to hang from your rear mirror or even throw on a chain. Regardless, my mission was accomplished, because they are quite cool.

Flea Market Friday

Off to a late start this morning, but here's my flea market friday post: Jane and I went to Columbus flea market last week and then on Saturday I headed over to Ocean Grove Flea Market. My budget is lean right now, so i didn't go to crazy, plus as Jane and i keep saying, "how much stuff do we need". So it really has to be something quite spectacular, very useful, on the small side or the "cute" factor (which is something so cute and priced at a point that you can't walk away!)

Something is going on with Linky these days - You have to pay for it now, which i'm not gonna do. So if you are participating, leave your blog post info in the comment section.

this blue door was my favorite find from Ocean Grove. love it in my garden.

got 4 of these vintage cement blue birds, which are scattered about in the yard

love the green lingerie? glove box? perfect size for in the studio and great drawers to hold stuff. the box to the left is a wig box that i got to house my handmade Marie Antoinette wig (the one i wore at the Steampunk Convention)

a sweet little dollie and a hand fan. I love these fans. I pick them up from $1-$3 and i put them in my purse. I used one yesterday at Tucker's graduation as the room got really warm and there was no circulating air. My blood pressure tends to run on the low side and keeping a fan handy in those type of circumstances always helps out!

a sweet little doggie, little old "well loved" Steiff lamb, a vintage Asian pincushion (another item i collect)

handmade flowers and a darling little sewing basket

top of the pincushion with vintage pins

a smattering of bling

cool old sampler

yummy linens and lace

my friend, Angela, was selling at Ocean Grove

hooked up with Michelle

ran into my buddy Marlene

flea market friday next week

can you believe that i have not been to a flea market in A LONG TIME? you know that is rare for me. My friend, Jane and i, are either going to Columbus tomorrow or Ocean Grove on Saturday (or both), so i figured, we could do a Flea Market Friday next Friday, June 10th. If you don't know what FMF is, its just a little blog gathering where you do a blog post featuring items you have found at the flea market, estate sales, antique store, thrift store, etc. Create a blog post for Friday, June 10th and then come over here to log into the linky that you will find under my post. then we can all hop around and see what sort of goodies we have found lately. don't worry, it can be something you found a few months ago, or something you found recently. We just want to see the goodies!

in other news, tucker is feeling much better. i want to thank everyone for their kind comments and thoughts for my sweetie pie. he went back to school yesterday. he came home very tired, poor guy. hopefully each day will get be better than the next. He's graduating on June 9th though, so he actually doesn't have many days left in the school year.

i randomly did a little sewing a few days ago and created a shower curtain for my bathroom. It's been on my to do list, so i finally tackled it. it's quite heavy! this picture was taken in the hallway as the bathroom is very tiny and it's to hard to snap a photo in there. the shower is one of those stalls, so thus the smaller rod......

Flea Market Friday - join in!

goodness, I almost forgot! here i am thinking it is Thursday!

Well, obviously it is getting colder and harder for us to get to a flea market without warm weather and it not raining - so i think this will be the last FMF until it warms up again!

i did manage to find a few things last week at Columbus, but not alot - not many vendors when it is cold.

old mirror frame - i see this as the beginning of a cold mixed media base!

------------------------------------

cute dollie to alter, some vintage party blowers, some bias tape rolls and an old embroidery

----------------------------------------------------

an old smudge pot, i believe they were called- love the green!

-------------------------------

vintage Christmas items - my favorite!

0k, see you when it warms up!

Flea Market Friday - join in!

From the flea market last week, i scored ($60!) this awesome old storage piece. it seems to be some sort of old index holder of history stuff. not sure much more about it from there. there's a little shelf that pulls out and i believe it used to be covered with an index map of where to locate items in the storage piece. one piece i can read (it was ripped off, but there's a tiny snippet in the way back that i found) reads something about an image from some Spanish event.

but anyway, it's mine now and it is now an index for Lemoncholy goodness! it has 5 draws, all of which has been fillled with stuff i have found from the flea market over the past few years. What i love most about it, is that i can store my art books on top and i love how i can see them standing up like that.

flea market friday - join in!

Hi from Pennsylvania. I am staying with my girlfriend, Leslie, and we are taking a few classes at Beadfest. Tonight we started our two day class on resin applications with Susan Lenart Kazmar. It was fun and i resined a lovely butterfly that i found on the ground at Wawa before class.  this morning before driving to Philly, i stopped at Columbus flea market and found a few things. you'll have to excuse my photos, as i had to do an impromptu photo shoot inside my car since i would be blogging here at Leslie's house.

adorable plastic Scottie dogs bracelet
great metal container full of vintage fabrics, rickrack, lace
metal and plastic and jewelry findings
vintage mass cards
awesome kewpie party dolls about 12 " tall. i got them for jane and i to fun up
ran into my friend and fellow blogger, Jill. I also ran into my friends, Abbie and Holly and forgot to take their photo (so sorry girls!)
