Hope for Oklahoma

A couple of my cool facebook friends (the Heather's) ran a really cool auction a couple of weeks ago to raise funds for victims in Oklahoma, following the hurricane. With all the items donated and then auctioned, they were able to raise almost $9000! how amazing is that. I donated 3 pieces myself.

Well the girls are starting round 2 tomorrow. I am donating this piece that I have called, Angel of Hope. The auction takes place on this page and you bid under the photo of the item you are interested in. You have to have a paypal address to bid. Visit their and like their page here

"Angel of Hope":

Angel of Hope is a mixed media hanging piece, measuring 12" long and 7.5" wide. She is made up a variety of objects because she represents the disentanglement of life after a hurricane comes through. Her feet are old spoons. I imagined finding them on the ground in the rubble afterwards. Her body is an Altoid tin and can be opened to view the inside, which contains a small painting, meant to illustrate the wounded voice to all that have lost so much. She has been soldered and her head (and old vintage bisque Charlotte doll part) has been anchored down with a screw. This screw now holds her together; much like the support offered by Hope for Oklahoma. ~kecia deveney

helping out a friend

The member's of the O&E design team are holding a little auction of some of our designed pieces for one of our own. She is going through a life change and we are hoping to raise a few dollars for her to begin again. If you go to the O&E blog, you can see what is for sale (great holiday gifts!) I donated one of my pieces using O&E products for their blog auction and then decided to also to sell one of my own Lemoncholy's pieces here on my blog as well. (fyi, shipping is FREE!) here is the blog post about our friend:

There are times in all of our lives when we have needed a helping hand to get through a rough place we might be. Sadly one of our fellow Design Team Members has been faced with a tremendously difficult situation. As many of you know we here at O&E are much more than a group of Artist's creating jewelry and art - we are friends; friends who support, cheer on and help one another no matter what the situation might be.

That said we have decided to provide you, our readers and cheerleaders the opportunity to purchase your very own exclusive O&E Design Team Piece. All funds will go to our fellow designer in need.

To purchase an item simply click on the Buy It Now Button and you will be directed to Paypal where the transaction will be finalized and your item will be shipped.

It is our hope that you will understand the desire to keep our Designer's name private as the circumstances of the situation are not only extremely personal but very difficult. We thank you all for your support in this and wish you happy creative days

this piece is about 16" long (not including the length of the heart). The heart was sculpted, distressed, stamped, hand painted, embellished with vintage costume jewelry and then soldered. Finally, ICE Resin® was added on the top of the heart. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me at : keeshagirl4@aol.com

$110 -

don't forget to take a peek at the other items also up as part of the auction. Yesterday someone asked me if they could make a private donation instead of purchasing something and yes, that is a wonderful idea, so if that's something you would prefer to do, you may contact me about that as well. any help is much appreciated.

is it friday yet?

first i slipped outside (this was monday). i didn't fall, but a rug slid on me as it was icy underneath and i was on a ramp, so my body jerked as i slipped and then corrected myself. i was quite sore; actually felt like i had whiplash in my neck, shoulders and between the shoulder blades. then the next day (yesterday) i had to do a show alone and had to carry my table really far to this building and it was really heavy. i am not strong enough to carry that table, but we didn't really think that the door to the building would be so far off from parking. then i get up the doors and they are not automatic nor is there any buttons to push them open, nor anyone around to help. so it was very difficult. so after setting up, doing the show (which sucked - i made $18) and then taking everything down again and then driving an hour and a half home, i was exhausted and sore.

when i got home tucker started coughing and had to be suctioned almost all evening and then get this - we lost power for almost 4 hours. i have backup power for 2 hours and then his suction machine has a battery, but it was really dark (just candles) and i was getting concerned about how much longer the power would be out and how long the battery in his machine would last. so i called the police department to inquire about how long to expect the outage and the next thing i know, they want to send out a squad car and EMS to evaluate. talk about my stress level going through the roof. i was like, no, it's not necessary, this isn't an emergency, etc. but they came. good heavens. right after i hung up with him, the power came on! i told the guy on the phone, please don't come into our neighborhood with lights going and sirens blaring (our neighbor, Kevin, died 2 days ago and i thought it might be very upsetting all around). and then i didn't want all the neighbors worrying and coming over.

tucker ended up coughing almost all night, so i stayed up with him. when i got up this morning (I kind of curled up next to him in his bed) i felt like a mac truck hit me. i am even 3 times as sore now. jeff relieved me at 7am and i went back to bed until 1:00. i felt a tad better after a hot shower and then walking around is loosening up my tight muscles. i'm kind of walking like i was out horseback riding for 3 days!
