check out my apron

I asked Holly Stinnett to make me an apron for a venue i am attending in Oct. (Art-is in Connecticut). I am attending the Cornonation of Alice and we decided that we would be wearing aprons. so i felt i must be prepared with a show stopping apron and immediately thought of Holly. After a few emails we came up with a game plan, i sent her a few images and VIOLA! look what she came up with. my criteria was vintage and shabby chic colors: blue, yellow, pink & green. A boy did she deliver! i told her that when it arrived today that my hair was a disaster, wearing pj bottoms, a skanky tank top, no bra, etc. but that the minute i put my apron on, i felt beautiful!

here are a few grungey, shabby chic items we picked up at a garage sale and flea market. under the plants and birdhouses in the picture below sits a gorgeous blue wrought iron bench, some cool old screens & shutters and a fabulous old shabby chic shelf which immediately found a home on my front porch. the smaller old metal screens i would like to use in a jewerly display somehow.

Sammy's doll

here is the other doll i made for the "beat the winter blues" doll swap, for my bud in Oregon, Sammy http://sammystuff.blogspot.com/ (stop and say hi to her, she's had the flu forever!) anyway, she emailed to say that dolly had arrived and her sweet hubbie helped her open the big box. I rescued the doll from a thrift store. she seemed cute with potential once i removed her most hideous outfit and gave her a sweet little haircut! her dress is a vintage baby dress. i made her crown from chicken wire and then vintage lace. for her stand, i took a doll holder and glued it to a vintage shabby chic - ish plate and added glitter on top. she carries her little pink purse where ever she goes - notice the little bird hitchiker?
