Recap Artfest 2011

Well I am home from my whirlwind trip across the U.S. to the west coast. Pam and I arrived roughly about the same time in Seattle. We picked up our rental car and headed out to get food and play. Pam forgot her jacket and phone, so we needed to go get her a coat as it was bitter, brrr, COLD!

After playing in Seattle, we made our way to the Bainbridge Ferry to start our trek to Port Townsend. We made a pit stop at Ester Fabric's (yummy!) and had a delicious mocha at Blackbird Bakery.

After checking into the Bishop Victorian, we unpacked and headed out for Mexican and margaritas for dinner.

in the morning, I got up early to take a brisk walk around Port Townsend; taking photos and enjoying the scenery before i began my day of teaching.

(the daunting steps at our hotel. no elevator and this is just the first set of steps. yes, we were huffing and puffing our way up!)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

when you first come into Port Townsend, it is tradition to stop at the Akamai art store and spend all your money and run into all the friends you'd hope to see at Artfest. This is seriously the best art supply store you will ever come across. (heck, we even stopped here on our way out to spend whatever few dollars we had left over!)

Pam and I unwinding after class

-------------------------------------------------

the next day, Pam and I took a class with Tori Berkenshire. We made Santos. Boy, did we have a blast! we loved the class, we loved Tori and we loved our projects!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

vendor night. busy, but not as busy as i had hoped, so there will be things either listed in etsy or for sale on my blog in a few weeks. A local girl (thanks Michelle!), who drove in, brought me a few vintage suitcases and manikin's to use on my table

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

the last day of Artfest, Pam and I spent taking a painting class with Jesse Reno. i absolutely LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this class. If you ever get the chance to take a class with him, DO IT! I'm working on trying to get him to come to Lemoncholy's Studio and teach. Not only are his techniques ultra cool, but i just love his philosophy and his way of thinking. He gave me much to think about...........

(i ended up getting to purchase this class sample. it's going to be a graduation gift for dillon. reminds me of a heffalump)

my finished class project

finally the last evening, is show and tell; where everyone brings their projects. it is so fun and amazing to see the variety of work that comes out of all the different classes.

a gift given to me from Angela. wonderful words to leave Artfest with!

here's a video of show and tell night taken by bud, Tracie Lyn Huskamp, be patient, i make a cameo at the end!
