a friend in need

My friend, Allegra, is very ill and needs our thoughts and prayers. She is a poet with words, clicked off with her wonderful accent. She's a dear and a love and needs all of us now. If you don't mind, please bless her in your thoughts and prayers.

update: Allegra is hanging tough. her fever still comes and goes, but hopefully she's turning the corner.

random sightings when we are fortunate to have our eyes open

Tonight i was doing a Tango video chat with my girlfriend, Pam and we were talking about my new puppy kashie (we get him on Monday!) Anyway, one thing lead to another and she showed me a little video she took of a darling little Shar pei puppy that she had seen at a local pet store. It made me remember this story and these wonderful photos I took to accompany that story. I've never published (blogged) these pictures before and i don't know why; because to me, they are amazing. I've thought about it, but never got around to it. So she motivated to start scouring my hard drive for them.

here's the story:

a few years ago my mom and i were on a road trip. the trip started in Dallas and would end in Tucson. (She had recently left my house, after spending the holidays here and was driving back to the west coast. So I decided I would fly out to Dallas and continue to drive with her to Tucson) We were making our way to Patagonia, Arizona, where we wanted to photograph hummingbirds who were beginning their migration. Well, it seems we arrived a tad early in the season, so we didn't get to see too many hummers, but we did a lot of driving around. We went to Patagonia Lake and visited the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, where we did get to see many species of hummingbirds flying around in their habitat (i have some amazing photos from that too!)

As we were driving around the little town of Patagonia, I yelled out to my mom. "Stop, Mom - Puppies!" (quite loudly) to my astonishment, there was a tiny little house with a dirt yard and 7 Shar pei puppies (plus mom and dad). What a sight! I don't know why it struck me so, but I doubt i 'll ever see that again. I adore these photos i took, but again, i could be fondly remembering that special trip.

Merry Bellikin

My girlfriend, Pam, gifted this little guy to me. He's called a "Billiken". He sits on an old column on my back porch. Yesterday I decided he needed some holiday cheer and dressed him up.

here's a great holiday video to enjoy:

Michael deMeng is gonna be in the house!

Purse’n, Place or Things

Finally I have managed to snag Mr. deMeng to stop by Lemoncholy's Studio and teach a class for us. The dates are Oct. 1 & 2, 2011. If you've never taken a class with Michael before, then you are in for a treat. I highly recommend spending a few days with him as you will learn much and leave with a very cool project!

here are the details about the class:

Purse’n, Place or Things

"When I think of purses, I think of my grandmother. She used to have this enormous cream patent leather purse. Inside, well, inside was everything that anyone would ever want. I swear she had circus clowns in there. Usually when on thinks of handbags they think of the items that go inside, in this class we are going to do just the opposite. We are going to adorn the exterior of the purse with strange and wondrous things. We will be using the process of assemblage to transform a everyday handbag into a sculptural sight to behold. It will become something that becomes not a mere vessel to hold tissues, sunglasses and circus clowns, but an item of personal expression. Fashion. Turn to the left. Fashion. Turn to the right"

---------------------------------

If you are interested in his class, please email me personally at keeshagirl4@aol.com and i will give you more information. Seating is limited and on a first come first serve basis. This is a 2 day class @ $100 per day.

Lemoncholy's Studio

My name is kecia deveney and this is Lemoncholy's Studio. Located in beautiful New Jersey (the garden state), I am about 7 minutes from the Jersey shore (Wall Township). I have lived here for 15 years and have spent that time creating an environment that is tranquil, quiet, relaxing and peaceful. It's a bit artsy, bohemian and gypsy-ish at the same time. Over time I have begun teaching in my studio and then inviting guest artists. Small size classes are taught here on site, while bigger classes are taught down the street at a little mom/pop hotel. feel free to email me at keeshagirl4@aol.com if you have any questions.

*please note that updated garden photos can also be seen here!
