Round Robin necklace returns home

Well, after being away for almost 10 months, my round robin necklace has returned. it started off with me picking my theme and then creating the focal image. my theme was "renaissance woman". I soldered a 2x2 square with my image and also added some lace and a red bird feather. from there it was sent off to all the participants who would then add to it. i chose to rework the necklace (for balance) after it arrived home as their were so many pieces and most of them of the large side. i've made it so that the other pieces that aren't currently on the necklace can be changed as i want. i also added the keys and crown charms since i felt it needed more texture. the bottom charm was a charm that i really loved, but couldn't seem to get it to work anywhere up higher on the necklace, so i hung it on some tiny pearl chain and dangled it with the keys and i think it is perfect there. i wore it to work the other day and its definitely a show stopper. it makes a lovely jangly noise as i move about. thanks to all the Charmsters who participated.

marie fat book

i am in a Round Robin collaboration with 14 other artists and we are doing a Marie Antoinette themed book. We are using vintage gardening books as our "book". they usually have a ring binder type enclosure on the inside. So after the other artists work on the page, they send them back home and then they go right back into the binder. We will decorate our books and then have a show and tell when they are all finished. i received my first page back the other day from Amy Huff. i love the colors she used. i can tell that the pages are all going to be unique and interesting.

jumping around a bit

about a year and a half ago, when I was visiting my friend, Kim, in Ohio, we went antiquing and i found this really cool vintage garden book that was done binder style, with removable pages. it was similar to a cookbook format, but smaller in size. i picked it up because i thought it would be a great book to use in a RR book swap. After the new Marie magazine came out by Somerset magazine, i thought that would be the perfect theme for the book; especially since we artists all seem to love anything and everything that has to do with Marie. So i put the word out in my Charmster group and got the swap going. Tonight i decided to start working on my cover. i picked up this Nancy Ann story book doll while in California. she was $10; her hair was a diaster, but her clothes were perfect. i knew what i wanted to do with her hair,so that really wasn't an issue. so here's my dolly. i'm going to make some sort of box for her to lay in and i'll glue that to the cover of my book. i also want to make a litle theater for under her dress. she has pink hair, only because i couldn't find my white yarn. kind of looks like cotton candy.

and here is what i added to my friend, Laurel's RR necklace. her theme is "let love in". she had added a keyhole for her center piece, so i added a tin type photo of a man peeking thru the key hole. then i made her a heart charm using some polka dot metal i cut out from a vintage receipe box. on top of that i added a little bezel and put the words: "let me in" on top.
