my girl Loo Loo

Meet LooLoo, a doll i've been working on. I was inspired to make her after i found these darling miniature converse sneakers. She has a lot of attitude and spunk. She doesn't put up with a lot of drama, but she has a very kind heart; despite her rather condescending look! she likes to wear vintage crinoline skirts with her sneakers and as you can see, she is participating in my Top Hat Blog Hop.

there's still plenty of time to participate in my blog hop - details here. just decorate a top hat and on Dec. 3rd, come on over and link up your post showing us your hat. (i'm really hoping you all will pose wearing your hats - be proud of yourself and show them off!)

**and just for the record, let it be known that I've been experimenting with paperclay for awhile in various projects and that this is how i used it in a doll. Paperclay and dolls go hand and hand and no one has creative rights over it. this is just my version using the materials i have on hand.**

also i am guest blogging over at ObjectsandElements - come see my latest project!

Acceptance

here's a doll i just finished that is going out as a gift for a fellow artist. i'd like to see this artist get a little break from the hardships she has had to endure lately.

a little Marie for you

here's a Marie doll i did; altering a cloth rag doll i picked up. i changed her hair and added all these fabulous old doll clothes. her skirt is so fluffy i can barely sit her down. she's very elegant in her royal jewelry and vintage tiara. i'm going to try and make my own rag doll from scratch as i think this would be a fun class to teach.

off for more holiday open house at Summerhouse!

as promised

So remember these dolls heads i unpacked and told you i was making really cool things with them?

here is a few of the dolls i made using the heads. the bases ranged from rusty bed springs to vintage tea cups, bottles and more! and you thought all i did was go to flea markets......

jumping around a bit

about a year and a half ago, when I was visiting my friend, Kim, in Ohio, we went antiquing and i found this really cool vintage garden book that was done binder style, with removable pages. it was similar to a cookbook format, but smaller in size. i picked it up because i thought it would be a great book to use in a RR book swap. After the new Marie magazine came out by Somerset magazine, i thought that would be the perfect theme for the book; especially since we artists all seem to love anything and everything that has to do with Marie. So i put the word out in my Charmster group and got the swap going. Tonight i decided to start working on my cover. i picked up this Nancy Ann story book doll while in California. she was $10; her hair was a diaster, but her clothes were perfect. i knew what i wanted to do with her hair,so that really wasn't an issue. so here's my dolly. i'm going to make some sort of box for her to lay in and i'll glue that to the cover of my book. i also want to make a litle theater for under her dress. she has pink hair, only because i couldn't find my white yarn. kind of looks like cotton candy.

------------------------------------------------------------------
and here is what i added to my friend, Laurel's RR necklace. her theme is "let love in". she had added a keyhole for her center piece, so i added a tin type photo of a man peeking thru the key hole. then i made her a heart charm using some polka dot metal i cut out from a vintage receipe box. on top of that i added a little bezel and put the words: "let me in" on top.
