Silver Sunday

Whoops, i'm a day behind for Silver Sunday, but that's okay. And actually i don't even have any silver to show you this week. But i have a couple of funny pictures to show you from when i met Beth (the host of Silver Sunday) at the flea market and we were fighting over a vintage goblet. We decided a little old vintage goblet wasn't worth fighting over.

**so who got the goblet? neither- we both decided to walk away. however, i went back a few minutes later and it was "gone" - hmmmmm, wonder who bought it?**

Silver Sunday 1/09/11

It's Silver Sunday again, hooking up with Gypsy Fish Studio to show off the silver in our lives.

I obviously have a love for worn, tarnished, aged, patina'd, grungey, scratched types of metals. I find them at the flea markets and don't pay too much for them. As a grouping, they are quite beautiful.

----------------------------------------------

just love these shakers. they rest inside an old doll armoire that sits on top of a book shelf in my bedroom.

--------------------------------------------------------

old metal jewelry boxes. the two on the left are my favorites!

--------------------------------------------------

an old Parmesan cheese shaker perhaps? i'm not sure, but i put German Glitter glass in it!

-----------------------------------------------------------

Old jello/pudding /candy/tart tins

-----------------------------------------------------------------

found this while antiquing with my friend, Leslie. Such a great find! (another favorite, got lots of those!)

------------------------------------------------------------------------

old candy molds (love the bunnies!)

-----------------------------------------------------------------

and an old metal tray, scored for $5 at the flea market. I tried to do some research on the inscription on the tray (1st Lighting R.Y.C. '54), but wasn't able to come up with any results. It's quite beautiful though and has amazing engraving designs on it.

Silver Sunday and guest blogging today

Whoops, i forgot it was Silver Sunday over at Gypsy Fish Studio- good thing she knows me well and just reminded me - thanks Beth!

Okay, I'm going to show off me deliciously patina'd silver punch bowl that i picked up at a garage sale last spring for $8- yummy! it was one of those items that i almost pushed an old lady out of the way for (ok, kidding, but not really......) When not in holiday mode, we actually use it for our candy bowl (my husband has this thing about having a well stocked candy bowl).

After commandeering it for my own selfish reasons (reason being, it's mine and i had always intended to put vintage glass balls in it!) - i filled it to the rim with some of the Christmas balls from my vintage collection. The bunny is one of Valerie Weberpal's and she is wearing the cutest polka dot dress, so i decided she needed to bathe in all that vintage glory. (don't mind the goggles, those are for our puppy and it was the first place i saw to put them!)

--------------------------------------------------------------

and in other news:

I'm over at ObjectsandElements.com guest blogging today, come on by to see my latest project!

also, my fun star wands were featured on Mod Podge Rocks, thanks Amy!

(i hope you enjoy my picture of Gracie posing in her bow with the tree in the background. she was such a good girl!)

Silver Sunday

Linking up with Beth of Gypsy Fish Studios today for Silver Sunday

this was really hard to get a photo of. it's a really old 3 paneled vanity mirror. i picked it up in Maine this summer. I like to use it as shows on my table. this last show it broke at the show, so i had my girlfriend, Jane, go and sew me a quick flower to cover up the biggest part of the break. i think it adds to its charm.

-----------------------------------------------------

this is an old silver teapot that i like to house "long" items in (such as knitting needles, paint brushes, rulers, screw drivers, etc.)

-----------------------------------------------

and then another cool silver/pewter tea pot. this one holds some of my vintage scissors (also silver!)

slide show!
